Ján Antal : Memories of early childhood

Antal remembers one of his toys he had brought back from the USSR. It was an aeroplane. He also remembers lying on his bed in the orphanage, in Vladivostok or Moscow, watching larks fly in through the open window. He remembers the Russian soldiers with him on the train back to Slovakia to join his mother, and these soldiers passing him out to her through the carriage window. He had only seen her once in the USSR, in the orphanage.

Antal talks about another toy he had at his grandmother’s back in Slovakia. It was a wooden house.
